The carbon fiber monococue of the upcoming McLaren Sports Series is the subject of a new teaser which has been recently released by the car manufacturer.
In case you were wondering what is happening with the new McLaren Sport Series and why haven’t we seen it at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, the answer is that the sports car is not ready yet and in fact it is quite some time away from hitting the assembly line considering the fact that the British based automaker is currently teasing out its carbon fiber monocoque.
“A carbon fiber chassis has been at the heart of all McLaren race and road cars since 1981 when we pioneered the technology in Formula1. This DNA will be present in the McLaren Sports Series with its unique carbon chassis – a true McLaren for the sports car enthusiast”, said McLaren on the topic.
As you probably already know by now, the brand new McLaren Sport Series will be the entry-level vehicle produced by the company, which will be slotted below the current 650S. The model in question will be aimed towards models such as the Porsche 911, the Jaguar F-Type or the upcoming Maserati Alfieri production, amongst others. Rumor has it that it will be getting a 3.8 liter V8 engine under its hood, which will be less powerful and it should produce more than 500 HP (373 kW). From 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h), the vehicle should need 4 seconds. Top speed will be more than 180 mph (290 km/h).
