Opel has released a couple of teaser images with the upcoming TCR race car, which will be officially presented to the public at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, this September.
Aimed towards the similar Volkswagen Golf racing car, the new Opel Astra TCR is going to be officially unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, in more than a month, and in order to place it into the spotlights for the first time, the carmaker has released a couple of sketches with it, which are partially revealing its exterior design.
“Touring car racing has always been an important part of Opel. The philosophy of the new TCR series corresponds to our idea of customer racing. We want to give ambitious privately owned teams a platform for exciting sport at reasonable costs,” said Opel Group CMO Tina Müller.
Opel says that the new Astra TCR is currently under development and its technical specifications will be announced at a later date but it seems that the vehicle is making use of a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is capable of producing a total output of 330 HP (242 kW) and a peak torque of 410 Nm (302 lb-ft). The two images posted below suggest an aggressive design, a wide body kit, a front splitter, a rear wing, a large diffuser and two massive exhaust tips. Additional details on the Opel Astra TCR are limited at this time and will be announced during the German automotive event.
