Merely a year ago the British automaker revealed the GT3 version of the V12 Vantage and Porsche took notice of the moniker so to avoid any harassment Aston in turn renamed the model as the Vantage GT12.
Now we have been treated to a teaser render of a model that has been labeled GT8 which makes us believe the automaker has decided to use the same recipe on the V8 Vantage. This means the special edition will be a more hardcore version of the model, order with the naming connected to the number of cylinders sitting under the hood. Through unofficial channels the guys over at Autocar managed to grab a hold of an invitation delivered to a circle of potential buyers – and the invitation details the car’s side profile in a drawing. Of course details are very few at this moment but we could be looking at a weight loss program starting from the V8 Vantage S model which currently weighs in at 3,549 pounds (1,610 kilograms). For comparison, the V12 limited series managed to shed a full 220 pounds (100 kilograms).
For now, the 4.7-liter V8 in a standard Vantage S makes out 430 horsepower (321 kilowatts) so we’re expecting the GT8 to gain at least around 20 hp. No matter the new credentials, the model is rumored to be packing a seven-speed manual transmission or an optional SSII automatic – with production to span anywhere between 100 and 150 units at prices starting from £170,000 ($241,910 / €212,888) apiece.
