Chevrolet today offered a sneak peek at its Colorado show truck that will officially be unveiled prior to the 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show, which begins March 25.
The automaker said that it had chose Bangkok for the debut because the popularity of small pickups in the market; 43 percent of vehicles sold in Bangkok last year were pickups.
“Thailand was chosen as the site of the global debut because of the popularity of pickup trucks and the growing importance of the Thai market to Chevrolet, ” a GM press release says. “In 2010, the pickup truck segment alone accounted for 43% of vehicles sold in Thailand. The new Colorado will go on sale in Thailand later this year.”
The new Chevy truck will be built in Thailand for global consumption, but will most likely carry over Stateside as the new Colorado/Canyon, and is being prepped by GM of Brazil for the American market.
Next generation Chevy Colorado will face some competition if we take a closer look to the market. For example, Ford has just released its new Ranger for consumption in all global markets except the U.S.
