Tesla is planning to develop an electric supercar and the model might go against vehicles developed by Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz or Audi.
After “testing” the market with the Roadster and seeing that people might pay just that extra amount when speaking of their dream car, the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, has recently revealed that the company is considering an electric supercar. According to the guys at Automotive News, the model in question might go against vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell, the Audi R8 e-tron and even compete with supercars made by Ferrari or Lamborghini.
“We will do an electric supercar at some point. It was going to happen right after the Model X, but it is more important to the world that we do a more affordable electric car. Hopefully, we will get to an electric supercar in four to five years”, said Elon Musk.
As a quick reminder, the newest model developed by Tesla is the Model X CUV, which came as a production prototype earlier this year. The company is planning to put the Model X into production in 2013 and the model is expected to get a range up to 270 miles (435 km) for the 80 kWh version.
