Famous presenter of the world’s most popular car show, James May, has recently said, during an interview, that he plans on buying a BMW i3 REx (Range Extender).
One of the most well-known critics when it comes to hybrid and electric vehicles, James May, has changed his mind over the night as he is planning on buying such a “green” car. We are talking about the BMW i3 which will be added to his garage soon. The decision has been probably taken after May, along with Hammond and Clarkson, has driven the i3 around a couple of weeks ago. The announcement has been made during an interview with BBC Radio 4.
As you probably already know by now, the BMW i3 is being offered in two version, full electric or REx (Range Extender). The last one is significantly pricier than the other but it’s worth it, considering the fact that you will get slightly more power and a significant driving range, compared to the standard version. The BMW i3 is powered by an electric motor, which is producing 170 HP (125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is connected to a single-speed transmission, powering the rear wheels. The 650cc two-cylinder petrol burner, with 34 HP, can be added as a range extender.
