Next week the worldwide capital of the automotive industry will be in Frankfurt, Germany, where car aficionados, fans, industry experts, executives, analysts and representatives of the media will converge for the spectacular automotive event.
There we’ll get to see not only the newest vehicles set to debut in 2016 but also concepts that could preview what happens from 2017 onwards. The salon is also used by many automakers to preview their best products ahead of the US auto shows to come and thus increase hype or jump ahead of possible introductions by competitors. And we’re going to see vehicles that appeal to everyone and everywhere – from the crowned luxury jewels to the mundane small class models.
Naturally, the ultra luxury kings will headline – this year both Rolls Royce and Bentley have something new to showcase: the Bentley Bentayga SUV and Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible. Ferrari also comes with the Spider – meaning cabrio – variant of the turbocharged 488 GTB. Lamborghini is set to deliver the exact counterpart of the former – the Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder. Porsche is also set to debut the 2017 model year 911 which comes for the first time ever with rear-axle steering as an option.
Going down a little further – from the ultra-luxury and supersport – to the luxury segment, we’re going to have a myriad of introductions from Audi, BMW and their competitors. First off, Audi will showcase the E-Tron Quattro Electric Concept sport utility vehicle set to one day compete with the Tesla Model X and the run of the mill A4 sedan. BMW will have the all new 7 Series flagship, revamped # Series and all-new X1 SUV while the urban experts from Mini will come with their biggest “mini” Mini yet – the Clubman. Mercedes Benz will deliver the S-Class Cabriolet, C63 AMG Coupe, and C-Class Coupe; while the minuscule smart will showcase the 2017 Fortwo Cabrio.
The other premium rivals will also be there to threaten the top three. Infiniti is globally introducing the Q30 compact, Lexus will showcase the LX 570 SUV and the refreshed GS sedan line. The luxury SUV race will heat up even further as Jagaur introduces the F-Pace crossover, their first ever.
