There are only a few days left before the Paris Motor Show opens its gates to visitors, so automakers are in a rush to present their novelties – Citroen is making our day with a rally fighter.
The Citroen Racing division has decided to entice fans all around the world with the first preview of the 2017 WRC car, with its concept being prepared for the worldwide audience of the French event. The C3 WRC will debut early next year in January during the famous Monte Carlo Rally, but has decided to showcase its credentials earlier via the online reveal and then in the metal during the Paris Motor Show. Of course, the WRC beast started life as the new generation C3 supermini and then grew to a 55-mm larger chassis and a more aerodynamic body that will comply with the new WRC regulations becoming official next year.
As per the new regulations, the diameter of the turbo restrictor will grow from 33 mm as it is on 2016-spec cars to 36 mm. With more oomph allowed, the updated turbocharged 1.6-liter engine should reach somewhere in the region of 380 horsepower, very much like the WTCC-fighting C-Elysee. The all-new Citroën C3 WRC will be 4.15 meters long and 1.9 meters wide and can also use an electronic differential control.
