The Koenigsegg Agera R test car crashes on the Nurburgring image

The very mysterious Koenigsegg Agera R development car has suffered an accident while being test driven on the highly technical Nurburgring circuit in Germany.

The challenging, narrow and curvy Nürburgring racetrack, dubbed the “Green Hell” by famous Formula One drivers takes its toll even from among the professional test-drivers that usually drive such prized possessions. The two drivers that were inside the Agera R have been reportedly injured during the mishap – the car left the secure tarmac and crashed into the security barriers in the sharp turn called Tiergarten.

An ambulance took both driver and co-driver to the nearest hospital for injury care. According to eyewitness accounts the driver either failed to brake soon enough when approaching the tight bend or the prototype’s braking system failed – with the car suffering extensive damage in the resulting crash. The Ring was closed down for 90 minutes to clear the wreck and resulting debris.

About the prototype itself little details were known prior to the accident, save for the fact that the Agera R is believed to have been modified – it had the One:1 side mirrors and “Development Car” stickers on the side of the car.
