The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard is tougher than bullets image

We all knew it was coming, and here it is – the 5 tons of limousine, complete with bulletproofing – namely the new Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard.

There are still some dictators left in the world, and with the increase of terror risk all around the world you can never be too protected. Or maybe the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard is the definitive answer. Mercedes said it will deliver an armored version of the Maybach S600 Pullman, called the Guard, way back when they presented the limousine – but it’s only now making its public debut at the Paris Motor Show at the end of the month. The customers – most likely heads of state, royalty, and dictators – will still need to wait until the second half of 2017.

The funds will be gathered until then as the safe will cost around 1.4 million euros ($1.56 million) in Germany, compared to a Pullman without armor costing 500,000 euros ($558,000). The Maybach S600 Pullman Guard has complete VR9 bullet resistance for the glass and body – allowing it to escape rounds from an assault rifle. There’s also a Directive ERV 2010 blast rating – 3 pounds (15 kilograms) of TNT can safely explode within 6.5 feet (2 meters) of this behemoth. This is why the Pullman Guard tips the scales at 11,200 pounds (5.1 metric tons). Power still comes from a biturbo 6.0-liter V12 with 523 horsepower (390 kilowatts) and 612 pound-feet (830 Newton-meters).
