The special version – developed with input from the STI performance division – is ready to travel to America, according to the company’s latest teaser.
Subaru Tecnica International fans need to keep a close eye on the company on June 8 because the automaker is going to present not only the new WRX STI Type RA but also the U.S.-spec version of the once Japan-exclusive BRZ tS – the first teaser of the car, a wing, was delivered last month and now there’s a second official glimpse via Subaru’s Facebook page. Before getting extremely excited, we have to tell you there are big chances the BRZ is not going to feature a power bump. The powertrain is almost certain the same, with the upgrades having to do with the suspension and aerodynamic elements – in a bid to make the little sports coupe a better handling track partner.
Subaru is already selling the BRZ with the Performance Pack in America, and the tS will probably appeal even more to track enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the Type RA is an enhanced 2018 model year STI, packing a carbon fiber roof panel, carbon fiber rear wing, an upgraded suspension with Bilstein dampers, 19-inch forged BBS wheels and Recaro seats. Subaru also promises “gearing and engine upgrades,” but we’ll have to wait and see what that stands for.
