Third generation Citroen C3 rendered to look like a smaller C4 Picasso image

The first generation subcompact Citroen C3 lived for eight years before being replaced and the second generation has already aged for six years – which means the third iteration of the model could be just right around the corner.

When the French automaker will introduce it is anyone’s guess for now, though we imagine in the highly competitive segment it activates staying alive for eight years just like the first generation is next to impossible now. So, if the upcoming 2015 IAA Frankfurt motor show is not going to deliver on the third generation, most likely next March in Geneva the French will wrap up the uncertainty. Meanwhile, the journalists at OmniAuto have decided to take a swing and imagine the upcoming next generation. They based their renders on the latest rumors, which tip a 2016 global release and heavy design influences coming from the uncanny C4 Picasso styling lines. That would mean a striking front end with the three rows of lights and double-grille treatment.

Though overall having the same dimensions as the current model, the third generation is also tipped to come with a more unisex exterior, featuring sportier and increasingly dynamic looks that would also make it interesting to the male audience – after the first two generations had lines that mostly appeared to the feminine side. With the current C3 also derived in a long list of variants, we expect the trend to continue an maybe even deliver a crossover – something to succeed maybe the Chinese C3-XR.
