Since design opinions are subjective, we’ll give you that – if you don’t like the quirkiness of the C4 Cactus you won’t necessarily like the new generation C3 either.
But since Citroen has been commended on more than one occasion by the fans, customers and specialists for the eccentric C4 Cactus, we’re willing to bet you’ll consider the new C3 among the coolest cars there are in the subcompact segment in Europe. This is French quirkiness at its best, with the supermini five-door also packing a plethora of functionality and safety features, alongside a bevy of customization options and technologies. The exterior design shows why decades ago Citroen was considered one of the most forward thinking automakers – albeit all toned down to the modern desires of customers. We have flowing lines and sharp creases, all packed in a very distinctive manner.
Buyers at first will need to sort out what colors they want for their new C3 – they can deal with three different roof shades to match some of the other parts on the car, as well as nine main body colors resulting in a two-tone and fresh look. Since the C3 is a shrunk C4 Cactus, the car’s innovative Airbump panels have also been snatched for better city protection. The powertrain options aren’t that innovative though, as we have the regular roster at hand. There are three PureTech petrol engines or a couple of BlueHDi diesel options. More importantly, the hatchback does pack functional items such as hill-start assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, driver attention alert, a backup camera, and more.
The cabin is also choke full of different fabrics and unique styling, but this time around we can see Citroen has also thought about technology. Citroën’s Connect Nav system, with a full navigation suite and other infotainment technologies, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink uses a seven-inch display to present all of them. There’s also the new ConnectedCAM Citroën, which uses a camera located behind the rear-view mirror to capture photos and video of what’s going on inside, uploading them directly onto the owner’s social media channels.
