A completely original and in pristine working condition 1978 Datsun 260Z is hitting the auction block soon, and the best part is there’s just 8, 285 miles on the odometer.
This all-original 1978 Datsun 260Z is going under the hammer in the United Kingdom during the Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) sale on September 24th. The car has been rediscovered after sitting idle for 21 years and has clocked just 8,285 miles – it was taken out of storage this May, inspected thoroughly by a specialist – with the engine even turned by hand then connected to a small auxiliary fuel tank. This right-hand drive unit was first registered in the UK back in March 1978 and has only had two owners since – the last one took it home in 1994 and put it into storage.
The model has the original Copper Bronze Metallic paint and all the interior pieces are from back in 1978. “This car is an unrepeatable opportunity to own what could be one of the lowest mileage ‘Z’ cars in existence,” comments Guy Lees-Milne, Auction Manager of CCA. “ This fantastic car is a rare find ready for recommissioning or preserving, and will make for a very rewarding and straightforward project for the winning bidder.” The estimate bid ranges between £18,000 – £22,000 ($24,000 – $29,000), and this “Z” shows how car collectors can satisfy their passion even on a budget.
