Skoda has started the development of the new Superb generation as the model in question is believed to be unveiled sometimes this year.
The 2016 Skoda Superb comes at no surprise for anyone considering the fact that the company has already released several teaser images with the model and the fact that this has been caught on camera a few times by our spy photographers. The third generation of the flagship Skoda vehicle will be more spacious than the current one and this will be growing in size compared to the current one, which stands at 4,833 mm long, 1,817 mm wide and 1,462 mm tall, getting the large 595 liter boot space, in order to make room for the larger Octavia, for the Rapid and for the new Fabia generation.
Skoda will be using the stretched MQB platform for the development of the new Superb, which also underpins the Volkswagen Passat, and this is expected to shed some 75 kg from its weight, despite being 20 mm longer and 50 mm wider than the outgoing one. The trunk will be offering 625 liters of space and 1,760 liters with the rear seats folded. Adaptive dampers will be offered for the model too and the base variant will pack a 1.4 liter gasoline burner with 125 HP. This will start from 25,000 euros in Germany. Other engines for the model will include the 1.8 liter with 260 HP, a 1.6 liter and a 2.0 liter turbo diesels, ranging between 120 HP and 190 HP. Transmissions will include the 6-speed manual and the DSG, sending power to the FWD or the AWD system.
