Another incident involving the Ferrari 458 Spider is bringing us some images from a spectacular supercar crash which happened recently in California.
We may be writing about exotic car rides crashing almost daily but we rarely get to see some truly spectacular ones, which are giving a headache to the owners, the drivers, the police and the insurance companies. This particular Ferrari 458 Spider has been driven in California recently but how it ended up in that exact position remains unknown at this time. We know that high speed must have been involved and that it happened during the night. According to the homeowner, the driver of the Italian ride has fled the scene. The fire and police crews have arrived soon after.
Ferrari has firstly introduced the 458 Italia during the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. This was followed by its convertible version, the 458 Spider, which has seen daylight a couple of years later, during the 2011th edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show. The roadster came with the aluminum retractable hardtop which, according to Ferrari, is actually weighing 25 kg less than the soft roof found on its predecessor, the F430 Spider. The same 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine is found under its hood and while the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint may be done as fast as the 458 Italia, the top speed has decreased to “just” 320 km/h (199 mph). The 458 has been recently replaced by the 488 GTB.
