Android Auto has been made available on the first ever production car, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

The South Korean based automaker has officially announced the availability of the 2015 Sonata with Android Auto as this is the first production model to get it. According to the company, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata is available with a free update on the Navigation versions and the Android Auto is basically providing a Google Now card-based experience in it.

“Android Auto aligns with Hyundai’s core interior design principles of safety, intuitiveness and simplicity. We launched this highly anticipated feature on our best-selling Sonata, adding to our promise of value. With the launch of Android Auto, we provide more owners with the experience of cutting-edge technology”, said the president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America, Dave Zuchowski.

The Android Auto is providing users with calendar appointments, personal reminders, suggested destination, weather information, music and so on. In order for this to be used, owners of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata will have to have a compatible phone with the Android Auto app and a device with Android 5.0 Lollipop or later. They will also have to connect their device to the USB port with a micro USB cable. Early adopters of Android Auto will have to go to the dealerships to have the update installed but eventually owners will be able to download it onto a USB memory stick by visiting the company’s official US website, plug it in the car’s USB port and it will be automatically installed.
