A special performance edition of the new four-door Impreza WRX STI has been unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show by the Japanese based automaker Subaru.
According to the manufacturer, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI S206 is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder boxer engine which is developing a total output of 316 horsepower and has a peak torque of 318 lb-ft, 20 HP and 18 lb-ft more than the standard version, thanks to the STI tuned ECU, sports muffler with lowered back pressure exhaust and twin-scroll turbocharger. The new Impreza WRX STI S206 is also coming with a series of sporty styling upgrades and a new Bilstein front shock absorbers and STI coil springs.
Subaru says that its newest model in the lineup is now sitting on 19 inch BBS alloy rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, also coming with a new aerodynamic body kit, made out of a new spoiler, new grille and lower bumper, while the rear wing has been removed, being a result to improved aerodynamics. Recaro racing bucket seats and Alcantara trim have been fitted on the inside.
The new Subaru Impreza WRX STI S206 is also available with the NBR Challenge Package, celebrating the vehicle’s win at the 24 Hour Nurburgring Endurance Race in its Class, held in June, packing a carbon roof and original dry carbon rear spoiler. According to the Japanese based automaker, only 300 units of the Impreza WRX STI S206 will be made, with 100 of those being offered with the NBR Challenge Package, but Subaru says that the models with the NBR Challenge Package have already been sold, so you can forget ordering that one.
The 2012 Subaru Impreza WRX STI S206 has went on sale on Tuesday, November 29, in dealerships throughout Japan.
