TomTom, the Dutch manufacturer of automotive navigation systems on Tuesday announced the launch of its GO LIVE 1005 WORLD in five more countries after the successful launches of a PND with travel specific apps in the USA and Germany.
The new device comes with a series of online services like Expedia, TripAdvisor or Twitter. It also features TomTom HD Traffic technologies.
HD Traffic offers accurate traffic info updated every two minutes – that’s up to seven times more frequently than any other provider.
“This new connected PND brings a new level of convenience to travellers and shows our commitment to continuously enhance our Consumer product offering.” says Corinne Vigreux, TomTom Managing Director Consumer.
GO LIVE 1005 WORLD comes standard with a series of pre-installed maps of Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Southern Africa, South-East Asia and the US.
The announcement comes shortly after the Amsterdam-based GPS specialist said net profit for the three months to Sept. 30 rose 53% to €29 million ($40.3 million), compared with €19 million a year earlier.
Automotive sales rose 43 percent to 59 million euros, while revenue from content and services advanced 19 percent to 107 million euros.
