The UK Top Gear crew has announced that a one off a kind version of the Nissan DeltaWing will be built in the TG garage.
According to the guys at Top Gear UK, the Nissan DeltaWing in question will be made in order to be tested by the three presenters, but Jeremy Clarkson is most likely to get behind the wheel in the upcoming Season 18, which is expected to debut in January 2013. Until then, you can watch the video with the real Nissan DeltaWing being explained below this article.
As a quick reminder, the Nissan DeltaWing weighs just 590 kg with a full tank and the racecar will be driven by Mario Franchitti, known from IndyCar, by his brother, Dario Franchitti, and Michael Krumm, a FIA GT1 world champion. The Nissan Delta wing is coming with an opened cockpit and the vehicle is actually a lesson for low fuel consumption, which doesn’t necessarily has to come from diesel or hybrid powertrains, and a simple downsizing is sometimes quite enough.
The new Japanese racer, the DeltaWing, takes its power from a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, with direct injection, which is developing a total output of 300 horsepower. The model will race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this year.
