The Toyota 86 is no longer wearing any other brand names following the retreat of the Scion brand in the United States, but after it was first introduced back in 2011 and upgraded for the 2017 model year it does carry a new, 860 Special Edition model.
The exterior adopts the Supernova Orange shade – exclusive to this model as it combines Ablaze red and Hot Lava orange, and is contrasted by the loss black mirror caps, black rear wing, and black stripes. There’s also a bespoke aerodynamic underbody panel. Moving inside, there’s a set of orange stitching on certain areas – such as the steering wheel, dashboard, gear lever knob and boot, seats. We also have a plaque with 860 Special Edition – and the customers can also order the car with a halo White exterior paint – with each finish actually getting the 860 units from the name.
“The 86 is recognized by enthusiasts for its impressive driving performance and its value-oriented price tag,” commented John Myers, the marketing and communications national manager in the US. “The 860 Special Edition will amplify these core elements with an added dose of premium styling mixed with performance technology.” The Toyota 86 860 Special Edition will cost $29,155, without the $885 destination and delivery, when selecting the manual transmission. Other included perks are 4.2-inch multi-information display with G-force meter and stopwatch, smart key with push-button start, touch-activated unlock, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
