Toyota’s TRD racing and performance division has recently announced that the new Aqua will get a bunch of upgrades.
After the new model has been officially introduced in Japan just a day ago, the Toyota Aqua, or Prius c as it will be known, is once again ending up in our news after the company’s TRD division has announced that the vehicle will get some upgrades. According to the Japanese based automaker, the TRD racing and performance division will fit the Toyota Aqua with an aggressive body kit, which will make the model stand out of the crowd. The eco-friendly vehicle will come with a front apron, optional LED running lights, side skirts, a roof spoiler, a rear diffuser, sports exhaust system, racing wheels and an upgraded suspension system, along with the TRD started button in bright red.
Even if this seems to be a hot eco-friendly hatchback, the changes will only be on the esthetic level and the engine won’t be modified in any way, so the future customers of the Toyota Aqua / Prius c, who will also chose the TRD Sport Package, will get only 100 horsepower. As a reminder, the Toyota Aqua takes its power not from the 1.8 liter engine but from a 1.5 liter DOHC four-cylinder, 16v unit and an electric motor. The model is claiming a fuel efficiency of 35.4 km/l under the JC08 test cycle and 40.0 km/l under the MLIT 10-15 test cycle. The Toyota Aqua will hit the US as the Prius c and the model will be officially introduced over-seas at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.
