Toyota doubles Indian capacity to 310.000 image

Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has announced its plans to double the India plant capacity to 310.000 units every year.

The world’s largest auto maker said just a month ago that it would raise the capacity in India first in 2012, having 210.000 car production in the first half of the year with an investment of 4.9 billion yen, and a new announcement has been made by the Japanese manufacturer and the Indian plant will produce 310.000 units.

According to the manufacturer, the local unit Toyota Kirloskar Motor will increase capacity at its first factory from 80.000 to 100.000 vehicles for the Innova and Fortuner models, while the second plant will produce 210.000 from 80.000 vehicles of the Etios, Etios Liva and Corolla models.

Toyota will invest another 14.4 billion yen in India to add casting and machining lines to a new engine plant which will begin its operations in autumn 2012.
