Toyota Racing Development (TRD) has announced the introduction of a series of enhancements to make the newest Hilux-based Fortuner sport utility vehicle a little more dynamic.
The TRD treatment has been named the Fortuner TRD Sportivo, stomach and the newest version in the range has a more aggressive stance thanks to the restyled front and rear bumpers and also features a dark chrome finish for the front grille. The roof has been blacked out for a contrasting matte look and the exterior modifications have been completed with a set of six-spoke 20-inch wheels wrapped in Dunlop 265/50 tires that hide the higher-performance brakes compared to the regular Fortuner. There’s also a TRD-tuned suspension with enhanced shocks and springs for a more engaging drive, view but don’t expect it to do wonders since we’re dealing with a pretty heavy, ampoule truck-derived midsize sport utility vehicle.
The cabin modifications include an 11-speaker JBL sound system, black & red leather upholstery, faux carbon Kevlar trim, and a red push button start. There’s also an assortment of TRD badges, sporty dials , red stitching on the dashboard and a seven-inch touchscreen with navigation. In Thailand the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo is packing a turbodiesel 2.8-liter engine churning out 177 horsepower (130 kilowatts) and 332 pound-feet (450 Newton meters) of torque. The standard setup includes front wheel drive and a six-speed automatic gearbox but the AWD setup can also be had as an optional extra.
