Toyota has released the first images with the updated version of the FT-86 Open Concept, ahead of its public debut scheduled for the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.
This isn’t the first time when we get to see the FT-86 Open Concept, but Toyota has given it a new red paint job and it has released a few images with the model, which will be officially presented to the public during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, this month. The Toyota FT-86 Open Concept is offering a preview of what the car will look like once it will lose its solid roof in the final production version, but, then again, some reports are indicating that such a model has been put on hold.
If it will indeed make its way into production, than the only differences between the convertible and the coupe will be the obvious chopped roof, because all underpinnings will be shared, along with the 2.0 liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated Boxer engine, made by Subaru and fitted with the Toyota D-4S direct injection system. The unit is good for 200 HP (149 kW) at 7,000 rpm and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque, available at 6,000 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in the Toyota GT 86 takes 7.6s with the manual transmission and top speed stands at 233 km/h (145 mph).
