Toyota GT 86 might get sedan and shooting brake versions image

The Japanese based automaker Toyota is planning to develop new body styles of the GT 86, which might hit the market as sedans and shooting brakes.

The announcement has been made by the company’s product chief Tetsuya Tada, who said that these new versions were considered by Toyota before the GT 86 even hit the market. According to the company’s official, the idea of developing new body styles of the Toyota GT 86, like sedans and shooting brakes, isn’t off, and the carmaker might still roll out some of these versions, besides the coupe, which is already available, and the convertible, which will make its way onto the market over the following years.

If it will indeed hit the market, these two new versions of the Toyota GT 86, the sedan and the shooting brake, will get the same engine under its hood as the coupe, convertible, as the Subaru BRZ and as the Scion FR-S. We’re talking about the 2.0 liter four-cylinder unit, with the company’s D-4S direct injection technology, which is sending the 200 horsepower (7,000 rpm) and the 205 Nm of torque (151 lb-ft at 6,600 rpm) to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
