The upcoming Toyota Hybrid R Concept announced for Frankfurt will actually be a high-performance petrol-electric car which will be based on the Yaris.
After it was officially teased just a few days ago, the brand new Toyota Hybrid R Concept is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the help of some new details, which are saying that the model is actually a high performance hybrid vehicle which will be based on the Yaris urban vehicle. The model in question was believed to be the result of Toyota and BMW’s partnership or even the new Supra sports car, but by brightening the image, the guys at Autocar find a modified version of the Yaris.
Even if it may look very similar to the Toyota Yaris, the Hybrid R Concept is quite far from the city vehicle and according to our source, this will get a 295 kW hybrid powertrain. If the Hybrid R Concept will be transformed into a production vehicle or not, it remains to be seen. Additional details on the model are limited for the moment and will be announced on the 10th of September, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, when the model will make its public debut.
