Toyota will officially pull the wraps off the new hydrogen powered vehicle at the Tokyo Motor Show, before launching the model on the market sometimes in 2015.
The Japanese based automaker Toyota is currently working on a hydrogen powered vehicle, which is expected to become more successful than the Honda FCX Clarity and to give birth to a whole new segment of vehicles. The new hydrogen powered Toyota car will be the company’s attempt to break the market, just like the Prius did in its own way, with a starting price set at approximately 50,000 USD, which should make it popular amongst celebrities at first, and not only.
The new Toyota hydrogen powered vehicle has been previewed by the FCV-R Concept and it will ride on a modified version which is also underpinning the Toyota Sai and the Lexus HS 250h. The model in question will hold about 5 kg of compressed hydrogen and this will allow it to travel for more than 500 km (311 miles) on a single tank. Its total output is believed to stand at 136 HP (100 kW). Additional details on the Toyota hydrogen powered vehicle are limited for the moment and will be announced close to its debut.
