The Japanese automaker, the largest in the world, has just released the new 86 Blackline Edition in Australia, for added sporty flair bestowed on its GT-86 coupe.
The coupe has been clad in motorsport-inspired elements, with the limited series featuring a White Liquid exterior paint complete with black stripes on the hood and roof. The GT-86 also uses a TRD body kit that comes nicely fitted with a front spoiler, modified side skirts, a three-piece rear spoiler, as well as a more dynamic back bumper. Customers also can have HID headlights, LED daytime running lamps, as well as the smart keyless entry system. The two-tone paradigm has also been carried inside where we found red Alcantara inserts on the black leather seats, stainless steel door sill plates, a dual-zone climate control system, as well as an infotainment system with GPS navigation and a standard rearview camera using a 6.1-inch display.
While the new 86 Blackline Edition comes nicely finished in sportier clothing, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has remained untouched and thus continues to deliver the same amount of grunt: 197 bhp (147 kW) and 151 lb-ft (205 Nm) of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. Only 450 units will be produced and of those only 200 vehicles will feature the auto gearbox – costing $40,490 AUD (the manual retails for $37,990 AUD).
