The Japanese based automaker Toyota might be offering a new model which will be based on the BMW 1-Series, which should arrive as a concept at next year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to a recent report made by 4 Wheels News and Best Car Magazine, Toyota is planning to introduce a new model which should be based on the popular BMW 1-Series. According to the latter, the model in question should be unveiled somewhere in 2017, in a production form, and it should be slotting below the current GT 86, coming with a style similar to the German hatchback.
The upcoming compact car to be offered by Toyota has been apparently codenamed the 69DZ and it is believed to come with a 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine under its hood, which is producing a total output of 130 HP (112 kW) and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) of torque, connected to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The model in question sounds so similar to the new “sports car” which will slot below the GT 86 and this might actually be that model. The concept version is said to be introduced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. More details on it are limited for the moment.
