The Japanese based automaker Toyota is planning to introduce a new entry-level sports car, which will slot below the current GT 86.
The Toyota GT 86 is one of the best cars money can buy in its segment and in its price range but the car manufacturer is now planning to offer an even more affordable ride, which is promising to be as fun as the already available model. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet, but according to a recent report published by the guys from Motoring, the model in question will be a compact coupe, which will be riding on a brand new rear-wheel drive platform.
The new entry-level sports car to be produced by Toyota will be standing in at 3,995 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,320 mm tall, riding on a 2,480 mm long wheelbase and weighing in at 980 kg. the vehicle should be taking its power from a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which will be producing a total output of 132 HP (87 kW) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. The unit should be connected to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The new entry-level sports car might be unveiled, as a concept, at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, and it should go into production in early 2018.
