As the 2011 Detroit auto show approaches, Toyota has released another teaser image for its addition to the Prius family. For the first time we see some of it’s cargo area.
From the looks of things, the Prius MPV will look exactly like, well, a Prius with a flatter, higher roof and an upright rear window.
Rumors have suggested that the Prius MPV will offer seating for seven via three rows of perches, though there’s no word on whether or not the larger Prius variant will use sliding doors or stick to a more Kia Rondo-like shape.
It shouldn’t be too difficult for the MPV to achieve greater than 40 mpg combined (city/highway), but we’ll just have to wait for the final EPA numbers to come in when the vehicle is released next year.
The Prius MPV will be joined in 2012 by a plug-in hybrid with longer-range lithium-ion batteries. The seven-seater will also feature those advanced batteries – one reason why buyers are unlikely to get change from £25,000
