Toyota has recently announced that the Yaris Hybrid model has entered production in France, after a 25 million euros investment.
The new Toyota Yaris Hybrid has been officially presented to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March, and the model has already been launched in the United Kingdom, where it’s available in three trim levels, the T3, T4 and T Spirit, with the entry-level T3 version coming with front electric windows, dual-zone air conditioning, ABS and CVT automatic transmission, for 14,995 pounds.
“We are proud to starting building the first full hybrid model in the B-segment in Europe. Furthermore, we are committed to bringing the highest level of quality to our customers. Having the model produced here, also means a brighter future for TMMF and the Valenciennes region. With petrol prices increasing ever more, we believe that we have the perfect fuel efficient product for the urban customer in this segment”, said Makoto Sano, the Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF) president.
As a small reminder, the all-new Toyota Yaris Hybrid is coming with a 1.5 liter VVT-i petrol engine and an electric motor, which are developing a total output of 98 horsepower. The hybrid powertrain is mated to a CVT, which is allowing the model to burn an average of 3.5 liters of fuel every 100 km, while meitting just 79 g/km of CO2.
