The special series of the Mercedes-Benz SL 550 Mille Miglia 417 Edition has been caught in the flesh and metal during a recent event in the United States and we have all the hot pics with the roadster.
Mercedes-Benz is going to treat us to the refreshed SL during the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show and before the public can see it in the metal we can keep you enticed with the very rare Mille Miglia 417 Edition” that was bestowed on the outgoing SL 400 and the SL 500 (SL 550 in United States). The limited run was developed specifically to celebrate six decades since a 300 SL bearing the aforementioned 417 racing number won in its class at Mille Miglia at the hands of American driver John Fitch. Imagine the coincidence – the race itself got the green light at exactly 4:17 AM and was over after 1, 597 km (992 miles) and 11 hours, 29 minutes, and 21 seconds.
The special edition comes with a striking exterior design feature – the designo night black magno matte paint hue that mixes with the red and matte carbon accents. The Mercedes-Benz SL 550 Mille Miglia 417 Edition also makes use of great looking Mercedes-Benz SL 550 Mille Miglia 417 Edition alloys – 19 inch front and 20 inch at the back – and inside the two riders will get treated to the AMG Line sports seats with a carbon-like leather and red trim also available on the steering wheel. The US-specification SL 550 got under the hood the well known V8 4.7-liter bi-turbo powerplant churning out 449 bhp (335 kW) – enough to jump to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds.
