TrueCar Predicts September US Sales Down 4.4% image

TrueCar has recently released its auto sales and incentives forecast for September 2013 in the US.

The company predicts that US new light vehicles this month will reach 1, 131, 333 units, a drop of 4.4% compared with the same month last year and down 24.5% from August. The SAAR is seen approaching 15.4 million new vehicles, down 4% from August and an increase of 4% from September 2012.

Retails sales are expected to drop 2.8% compared with September last year and 24.4% from August, while rental and fleet sales are seen accounting for 14.1% of the total auto sales this month.

The average incentive spending per unit is seen close to $2,382 this month, an increase of 0.6% from September 2012 and a decrease of 4.8% from August. Incentives are currently at the lowest level since October 2012.

” The uncertainty in the financial markets also finally caught up with auto sales, causing some hesitation for big ticket item purchases,” said Jesse Toprak, senior analyst for TrueCar.com. “Nevertheless, the fundamental drivers for the market demand are strong and we should have no problems reaching 15.7 million unit sales this year.”
