The well-known exotic British car producer TVR has been in limbo for more than a decade, but we’re just about ready to greet their new sports car – so here’s one last teaser to keep us hooked.
After a bevy of teasers and early leaks, we now know the exact date TVR plans to introduce its new sports car, which is being planned for September 8 at the Goodwood Revival Earls Court Motor Show, a way to honor both past and present as the brand is celebrating its 70th anniversary (just like Ferrari!). The introduction notice also includes a teaser image depicting the new sports car hiding in the shades next to its retrolicious predecessor. By the way, the new TVR’s design is the work of David Seesing with help from Gordon Murray Design – yes, the same man that created iconic models such as the McLaren F1, and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
This new TVR is allegedly packing 480 horsepower (357 kilowatts) and a manual gearbox, with the 5.0-liter V8 engine coming from Cosworth. That’ll be enough oomph for an estimated 0-60 mile-per-hour (96 kilometers per hour) time of under four seconds and a maximum speed of 200 mph (322 kph). The performance is facilitated by the vehicle’s low weight of less than 2,755 pounds (1,250 kilograms), hence delivering a power-to-weight ratio of 400 hp (298 kW) per ton.
