We were starting to forget about TVR – the British sports car automaker after all hadn’t presented a new model in no less than 12 years – but the hiatus is set to come to an end this September.
TVR – just like any other exotic brand – has had its highs and lows, but it’s apparently ready to recapture the sports car fans’ attention with the introduction of a completely new car. So far, we have been teased to the lateral profile displaying aggressive exhaust tips and now another teaser is showcasing another area of the design. This time around the reborn British carmaker is showcasing the initial stance of the retro-flavored front end that hints at inspiration from the past.
According to rumors off the mill, the “Griffith” name might be in order for the new model, after a recent trademark registration in which TVR asked for the moniker. The model is set for its official worldwide premiere in front of a live audience on September 8 at the Goodwood Revival event. TVR’s first all-new model in 12 years might have a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine from Cosworth, six-speed manual transmission and design penned in partnership with Gordon Murray Design, along with a weight of no more than 1,250 kilograms (2,755 pounds) and power-to-weight ratio of 400 hp / ton.
