Two Buses Collided Near Lincoln Tunnel, 17 Injured
This morning, November 12th, two buses collided near the Lincoln Tunnel injuring 17 people and blocking part of the tunnel.
According to officials the accident took place on the express bus lane on Route 495 in Weehawken, when a Martz bus and a NJ Transit collided on an approach that leads to the Lincoln Tunnel. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said that 17 people were injured, two of them in a serious condition, were immediately taken to the closest hospital.
Port Authority police responded to the crash this morning at 7:15 and authorities have shut down the lane on outbound side of the tunnel, which is used during the morning rush for Manhattan-bound buses. The NJ Transit bus was transporting 45 passengers from Paramus to the Port Authority bus terminal. Officials are now investigating the cause of the accident.
