The new generation of the BMW X5 has proved to be one safe ride over-seas too, where it was recently rated with a 5-star safety rating by another U.S. authority testing.
If you are looking to buy a new premium SUV and safety is your main concern, you can go ahead and place a deposit for the new generation of the BMW X5, because the model has recently received a 5-star safety rating from safecar.gov, a website which seems to be working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The vehicle has been awarded with a “Good” rating in all key areas which include the moderate overlap front and side impacts, when it was tested by the IIHS previously.
The BMW X5 has managed to score a 5-star rating in every test, except for the rollover protection, in which the model has scored 4 stars. The risk of rolling has been calculated at just 18.8 percent so you shouldn’t be too concerned of that. The full frontal collision shown in the video posted below, against a fixed barrier, was conducted at 35 mph (56 km/h) and the cockpit remained intact.
