The German based automaker Porsche has announced new sales record in the United States for the brand in 2012.
According to the car manufacturer, Porsche has managed to sell a total of 35, 043 cars in the United States last year, a 21 percent increase over 2011, which set a new sales record, beating the old one which remained untouched ever since 2007.
“2012 was truly a momentous year for Porsche in the U.S. Not only did we launch the all-new, seventh-generation 911, the completely redesigned Boxster and our first diesel model, we set records in nearly all aspects of our business, achieving top-tier results in many high-ranking industry quality and customer satisfaction studies while growing our share in the luxury market”, said the Porsche Cars North America president and CEO, Detlev von Platen.
The previous sales record was set back in 2007 when Porsche managed to sell a total of 34,693 new cars in the United States. The carmaker says that for the previous year, the new 911 Carrera, the 911 Carrera S and their drop-top brothers have contributed to the record, after they have managed to find 8,528 owners. The Cayenne SUV has sold in 15,545 units in 2012, a 20 percent increase over 2011. Porsche is hoping to break the 2012 sales record in the United States this year too with the help of its new models.
