Mercedes-Benz has recently announced its plans to offer a brand new Metris van in the United States, which will go on sale this September.
If you have no idea on what a Metris van is, don’t worry, because that’s why we are here for, to tell you that this is basically a renamed version of the Vito which will be offered for sale across the United States this September, as the carmaker is stating. The vehicle has celebrated its premiere a week ago, at The Work Truck Show, and it will be offered in a variety of versions, including the panel van (cargo) or the Tourer (passenger).
“The Metris is an important new component of the “Mercedes-Benz Vans goes global” growth strategy. In addition to exploiting new growth potential outside of the core European markets, this strategy aims to expand existing activities and further extend the division’s technology leadership”, says the carmaker in its official press release.
The Mercedes-Benz Metris has been “especially adapted to the North American market”, as the carmaker is saying, and this is a midsize commercial van which is equipped with the M274 four-cylinder 1.9 liter engine, which is meeting the U.S. market’s demand for gasoline burners. This is turbocharged and it is offering a maximum output of 211 HP and a peak torque of 350 Nm. The carmaker has fitted the new Metris Tourer with up to 8 airbags, with a tire pressure monitoring system, Attention Assist and Crosswind Assist. More details on the new Metris are limited at this time and will be announced once it will be offered for sale.
