The 2016 Volkswagen Jetta has recently received a brand new engine, as the company has officially announced.
Volkswagen has went on with its competition and has announced an important update for one of its vehicles, the Jetta, in the 2016 model year. According to the car manufacturer, the compact sedan has received a brand new engine.
“We are delighted that so many Volkswagen customers are now able to benefit from the performance and fuel-efficiency of our turbocharged and direct-injection engines, whether they choose TDI or TSI technology. Volkswagen leads the industry with implementation of these engines in North America and we are excited that we are furthering our leadership with the introduction of the latest-generation EA211 engine in the Jetta”, said the Volkswagen of America’s vice president of Product Marketing and Strategy, Joerg Sommer.
The brand new engine added to the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta is a 1.4 liter turbocharged TSI four-cylinder unit, which has been designed to replace the older 1.8 liter turbocharged and the 2.0 liter naturally aspirated engines. The new unit is coming from the EA211 family and it has direct injection and aluminum construction, being capable of putting down a total of 150 HP and a peak torque of 184 lb-ft. The engine is connected to a five-speed manual or to a six-speed automatic. With the latter. The car manufacturer is expecting 39 mpg on the highway, 13 percent better than the previous 2.0 liter engine and 7 percent better than the 1.8 liter one. No pricing details have been announced so far.
