No matter who you support – Republicans, Democrats, greens, etc, the ride sharing services are making sure you can easily get to cast a ballot.
On November 8, the United States will be a powder keg because it’s Election Day – and our counsel is to vote, no matter the candidate you support. Because you might want to leave your car at home so you don’t face the ugly traffic, some high tech ride sharing companies are here to help. According to the latest reports, there will be free or discounted rides through the services, in order to help them make the poll. Zipcar’s “Drive the Vote” program is allowing for free travel for members in over 7,000 vehicles nationwide in every location where the company offers its service. General Motors’ Maven is taking off $5 off the trip by using the promo code VOTE.
Uber and Google are working together to allow people to search for their local polling place and if this is your first ride with the company, the promotional code “VOTETODAY” takes $20 off the journey. Meanwhile its biggest competitor – Lyft – is offering discounts in 20 major cities off 45 percent when going to the polling place from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time.
