Football is the most popular sport in Spain. And this year Spain won the UEFA Euro 2012, becoming the first European team in history to win three major international tournaments in a row.
After a first half when Spain was the only team present on the field, the Western European country managed to win the match by an impressive score for a final tournament: 4-0, shattering Cesare Prandelli’s team.
Spain attacked from the start and went ahead after 14 minutes with a David Silva header and doubled the lead four minutes before halftime when left back Jordi Alba galloped past a frozen Italian defence onto a precise Xavi pass before planting a confident shot beyond Gianluigi Buffon.
Spain won the Euro 2008 title four years ago in Vienna and followed that up with the World Cup title in Johannesburg two years ago.
