Audi says its RS3 model will be produced in limited number and that certain markets, including the UK, have already sold out of their allocation.
The powerful RS3, set to be produced in limited numbers, is powered by a 2.5l turbocharged engine, capable of developing 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque and controlled via a seven-speed S tronic transmission.
Audi boss Jeremy Hicks describes the RS 3 as very much a halo model for the A3 range which accounts for about one third of all Audi sales in the UK, and definitely not a ‘vanity project’.
He added: “The RS 3 has an important part to play in our line-up. It is a modern interpretation of the original quattro. The fact that we have sold out of our allocation for this year is absolute testimony to strength of the brand given that customers have been prepared to order the car without even seeing it first.”
As far as consumption the 2011 Audi RS3 Sportback uses an average of 9.1-litres of fuel per 100 Km (25.85 US mpg) while CO2 emissions are of 212 grams per Km (341.18 g/mile). The base price is set at 49.900 euros.
