BMW has revealed full details for the new ActiveHybrid 3 Series, with prices starting from £40, 255.
The ActiveHybrid 3 Series will be equipped with a N55 TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine as well as an electric motor with high-performance lithium-ion battery.
Combined power of the engine and motor is 335 hp and 330 pound-feet of torque, BMW says. The 0-60 mph for the ActiveHybrid 3 is 5.2 seconds. The electric driving range is up to 2.5 miles, with a top electric speed of 47 mph (in ECO Pro mode).
Like the ActiveHybrid 5, the new 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 includes the usual modifications in any full hybrid model: regenerative braking that uses the motor to recharge the battery pack, along with engine shutoff on stops.
It can return average fuel economy of 47.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km, thanks to the electric motor and the fact the hybrid 3 Series can travel for up to 2.5 miles on battery power alone.
