Serving as a last hurrah for the current generation of the hot hatch, the Civic Type R Black Edition can be had by interested fans in just 100 units in the United Kingdom.
The outgoing Honda Civic Type R was released in UK showrooms back in summer 2015 and now after a rather short run the local unit is already getting ready to retire the model – albeit with a Black Edition available from £32,300. There are only 100 examples available – all of them have already went out of the production line and the Japanese automaker even announced the production of the Civic Type R at the plant in Swindon has been wrapped. The Black Edition gets a limited number of different details compared to a standard Type R – red rear wing end plates on the spoiler along with a predominantly black treatment to the interior with some red accents.
Anyways, the new Type R is coming into its own as it prepares to enter production in European specification form. First the regular Civic will reach the Old Continent this year and during the second half of the year will be followed by the new Type R. The model has already been showed as a pre-production prototype and will use a six-speed manual gearbox sending power to the front axle. There’s no word on power – but we could be seeing a slight bump for the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine now packing 310 hp and 400 Nm.
