Volkswagen has recently announced a price cut on the new Golf R Cabrio generation in the United Kingdom.
According to the car manufacturer, the new Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio has just received a price cut in the United Kingdom, where the company has just slashed 5,600 GBP from its price, which was originally set at 38,770 GBP, which made it more expensive than a Porsche Boxster.
“The price and premise were wrong, and with the benefit of independent perspective we pushed very hard to get the pricing modified”, said Robert Hazelwood, the VW UK boss, who also announced that the rest of Europe will receive a similar price cut on the model.
The Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio in question is based on the Golf 6 generation and it wasn’t made on the MQB platform. The model has black side mirrors, R sport seats, R exhaust system, new steering wheel, Talladega 18-inch alloy wheels and more. Power to the Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio is being provided by a 2.0 liter FSI engine, which is producing a total output of 265 HP. The unit is mated to a six-speed DSG transmission, which is allowing the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.
