The Japanese based automaker’s STI tuning arm has announced its presence to the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show with its latest creation, an ultimate version of the Impreza WRX STI S206.
According to the manufacturer, the S206 Subaru Impreza WRX STI is coming with a series of sporty styling upgrades and a new suspension. Subaru says that power to the Impreza WRX STI S206 comes from the 2.0 liter four-cylinder boxer engine which is now developing a total output of 316 horsepower and has a peak torque of 318 lb-ft, 20 HP and 18 lb-ft more than the standard version, thanks to the enhanced twin-scroll turbocharger, STI-tuned ECU and sports muffler with lowered back pressure exhaust.
Besides the power boost and sporty look, the S206 Impreza WRX STI has also been fitted with Bilstein front shock absorbers and STI coil springs. The car is now sitting on 19 inch BBS alloy rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and has a new spoiler, grille and lower bumper which is a result to the improved aerodynamics. The large fixed rear wing has been removed and Recaro racing bucket seats with Alcantara trim have been fitted on the inside.
Subaru says that only 300 units of the S206 Impreza WRX STI will be offered, out of which 100 are the NBR editions that have already been sold out. The Subaru Impreza WRX STI S206 won’t be available in the United Kingdom, just like its predecessors, the S202, S203, S204 and R205, and the model will be officially presented to the public next week at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.
