Ultra lightweight Audi TT planned image

The German based automaker Audi is planning to develop an ultra lightweight version of the TT which should hit the market over the following years.

The all-new ultra lightweight Audi TT is expected to weigh just 1, 000 kg and with its Quattro four-wheel drive system, the model might just be the incarnation of the 2010 Quattro Concept. The upcoming Audi TT model should get the company’s latest technology.

“A car in the TT segment weighing 1,000kg would be a very interesting proposition. It would be a derivative of the TT and the challenge is to make it a quattro too – that’s what I’ve asked my engineers”, said the Audi head of technical development, Wolfgang Durheimer.

The upcoming Audi TT model can be compared to the original Quattro but the model won’t make such a fuzz as the iconic vehicle. Unfortunately we don’t have any more details on the ultra lightweight Audi TT but the German based automaker is expected to present the model in a pre-production form over the following years, during an international auto show, and more info on it will be announced close to its debut.
